FREEIn Scotland and Wales, prescriptions are free for everyone, whatever your age. In England they're free from 60, and also if you're under 16, 16–18 in full-time education, pregnant or in the year after giving birth, or on certain benefits or medical exemption grounds. Northern Ireland is free for all too.
The catch: It's regional — there is no single UK-wide age. Check the rules where you live before assuming you pay.

FREEFree sight tests aren't just an age thing. You qualify from 60, but also if you're under 16, 16–18 in full-time education, diagnosed with diabetes or glaucoma (or advised you're at risk of glaucoma), registered blind or partially sighted, or on certain means-tested benefits. Free for everyone in Scotland.
The catch: Eligibility has several routes — use the NHS checker rather than guessing from age.
